A passenger plane's window exploded mid-air, forcing it to
make an emergency landing in the state of Oregon, USA, on Friday, according to
the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).
Alaska Airlines' Boeing 737 Max 9 plane returned to Portland
after 35 minutes of takeoff, heading to California, following a collapse in
part of its structure, including a window.
The company stated that 177 passengers and crew on board
"landed safely."
The company continued in a statement: "Although this
type of event is rare, our flight crew is trained and prepared to manage the
situation safely." "We are investigating what happened and will share
more information when available."
The new MAX 9 aircraft was delivered in late October to
Alaska Airlines and was certified in early November, according to the Federal
Aviation Administration data.
